  • Kids Outings Go Down a Storm

    Cabbies from Glasgow and Edinburgh were out in force as the most eagerly anticipated events in the taxi calendar took place across Scotland’s two foremost cities.

    The Edinburgh Taxi Trade Children’s Outing has been running for over 60 years and during that time many thousands of drivers have donated their time and effort to making the day the success that it is.  This year’s event was no different with over 60 vehicles on hand to help hundreds of underprivileged children enjoy a day to remember. 
    In time honoured tradition the celebrations started at Murrayfield stadium with spirits high and everyone raring to go.  From Murrayfield the taxis made there way in convoy, via Mussleburgh for an ice-cream break, to Gullane; finally arriving at Yellowcraig beach at Dirleton. (…)

  • Jobs Expansion at Cab Direct

    Taxi manufacturer Cab Direct has completed the latest phase of development at its main manufacturing plant. 
     
    Opened at the beginning of April the new factory adds 98,000 square feet of vehicle production space to Cab Direct’s existing 12-acre site. 40 new vehicle assembly jobs are also being created, bringing the total workforce to more than 350 people. 
     
    Purpose-Built
     
    The new factory now houses production for some of Cab Direct’s most popular taxi products, including the purpose-built Peugeot E7 and Mercedes-Benz M8 taxis. Other models include flexible people carriers like the Peugeot Eurobus and Volkswagen Odyssey, together with low-cost wheelchair accessible vehicles like the Ford Journey and Fiat Freedom. The company also produces a wide range of minibus taxis.   • KNOWSLEY TAXI DRIVERS JUBILANT AT HACKNEY CARRIAGE APPROVAL OF E7 TAXI

    Taxi drivers operating in Knowsley are rejoicing this morning (28th August 2008) at the decision of its local Licensing Committee to approve the E7 taxi as a Hackney Carriage within the borough. (…)
