Mercedes-Benz M8 – The Perfect Hackney Cab

Keith Robins, who has been providing transport services in Hertford for over 30 years, recently bought a new Mercedes-Benz M8 from Cab Direct and couldn’t be happier with his choice. 

 

Keith, who owns Chauffeur Line, has been in the transport business since leaving university in 1975.  At one stage Chauffeur Line, previously E.V.S, employed 12 drivers providing airport transfers and taxi services in Hertford and the surrounding areas.  In more recent times things have changed somewhat and Keith now works alongside owner drivers from his office in Hertford.

 

Perfect vehicle for the Job

In his time Keith has driven a variety of vehicles, most recently a Volkswagen Caravelle.  However, he’s especially delighted with his M8 and is convinced he’s now found the perfect vehicle for the job.  Keith says: “I’ve always had people carriers in the past.  But I find that the M8 is just the perfect all round vehicle, fit for any type of work.”

 

Safety

Keith didn’t reach his decision on which vehicle to buy lightly.  He whittled his options down from ten to three, finally opting for the M8.  One of the reasons for this decision was based on safety.  Keith explains:  “I wanted another mulit-seater but something with a bulkhead.  Safety is a high priority in this day and age.  I’ve been threatened at knife point in the past and so the bulkhead in the M8 was a big selling point.”

Versatility

Keith concludes: “I really love the versatility of the M8.  I like having the option for wheelchair access.  And the electric side steps have made a big difference too –

 

 

 

when I had the Caravelle I used to carry around a wooden make-shift step!  Whatever the job, with the M8 I never have a problem”.
