Lady Penelope gets her new car… but where’s Parker?
…..he’s not needed around Great Yarmouth anyway, because enterprising new taxi driver Sarah Miller has just started up her own premier taxi service called Lady’s Penelope’s taxis and it’s Sarah who is going to be giving the customers a real ‘chauffeur’ experience.
Explains, mother of two Sarah “I could see a gap in the market around here and it didn’t need Brains (sic!) to tell me that many business users during the daytime and families going for an evening out wanted a higher class of service.“ That’s when Sarah hit upon the idea of providing a premier taxi service. “I really want to give people in Great Yarmouth a fantastic service, one that they’ll remember and keep coming back for.” As you can see, Sarah fits the bill extremely well. She dresses up in a rather neat black suit with pink (naturellement!) blouse and her taxi is brightly liveried in a strikingly bold Lady Penelope design.
“When it came to choosing a new taxi I wanted something different, a quality cab that was going to stand out from the crowd, looking stylish and smart – just like the service I intend to give my customers. When I saw the TW200 I couldn’t help but be amazed by its striking appearance – that nice front grille and hire sign shows it is quite unique. Inside the cab it is very well designed for customers and me too! There’s lots of extras that come as standard in the TW200, too – reversing sensors, fog lamps, colour coded bumpers and extra stowage space in the centre console bins (who needs a handbag when you have a TW200?!) The air conditioning is great too in this hot weather and you can get more cool air into the back for customers with the rear two speed blow heater.”
Not content with a brand new cab and a really elegant service, Sarah also provides her customers with a higher class of service when they’re in the cab – it’s a DVD player which enables her to show customers short films, adverts and other news items. “Yes, it’s a great little extra income earner” explains Sarah, “But it is also a terrific form of entertainment for the kids or families when they are going some distance. Trips to Norwich airport can seem so very much shorter when you have the DVD going. And I am now building up a regular client base and their friends as they want the cab with the movies!”
There’s a lot of competition around in the taxi trade these days and if you’re going to succeed it needs more than sitting on a rank all day and getting one or two good fares. Sarah deserves all praise for going that extra mile to give her customers something memorable to drive in – a brand new TW200, in the most amazing livery and with a superb service as well.
And, dare I ask, has Sarah shown “her” special film yet? “Ah well” she replies coyly in her lovely Norfolk accent “…You’ll just have to take a decent fare to find out, try Yarmouth to Manchester and we’ll see!”
Thank goodness Parker has retired, sounds like it’s Thunderbirds…. are…. go!
